The technical room at the Forstern school was renovated, the PCB room is to follow: measures that are important to ensure the attractiveness of the middle school location.

– This year, the municipalities of Forstern, Pastetten, Buch am Buchrain and Hohenlinden have to pay a little more for their students who attend the Forstern middle school.

The allocation increases slightly by 60 euros to 8620 euros.

In the meeting of the school association meeting of the middle school association Forstern, chairman Rainer Streu presented current figures.

Accordingly, 119 students (as of October 1, 2021) attend the middle school.

The uncovered requirement is 1.025 million euros, from which the per capita allocation of 8620 euros is calculated (previous year: 8560 euros).

"This increase is due to the drop in student numbers from 122 to 119," says Streu.

Hohenlinden sends most of the young people to Forstern: the municipality pays 370,660 euros for 43 pupils.

Pastetten paid 301,700 euros for 35 girls and boys, followed by Forstern with 284,460 euros for 33 and Buch am Buchrain with 68,960 euros for eight pupils.

Middle school Forstern: Integrate Forstinning into the school association?

While traditionally many girls and boys attend school from Hohenlinden, Pastetten's Mayor Peter Deischl was amazed that there were more children from his community this year than from Forstern.

Streu added that there were also years with Forstinninger students, which also helped to stabilize the location.

You have to see how this develops.

Because, as headmistress Annett Taubert added, Markt Schwaben now also has an open all-day event that the students from Forstinning attend.

"But maybe we can consider including Forstinning in the school association," she suggested.

In the budget for the current year, among other things, funds have been set aside for upgrading the specialist room for physics/chemistry/biology (PCB), which is now “to be brought into the year 2022”, says Streu: The work tables are still from the basic equipment when the school was built in the 70's.

Middle school Forstern: "Location close to home very stable and recognized"

A first offer for the furniture is a good 40,000 euros.

In addition, the electrical system will be upgraded, for example with emergency stop switches or the gas connections with non-return valves, and the room will also be painted and the floor coverings will be looked at.

A total of 70,000 euros has been budgeted for the renovation.

Since the school association meeting rarely meets, Streu was authorized to award the orders.

Hohenlinden's Mayor Ludwig Maurer explained that it was important to keep the middle school location attractive.

“We wish that more people would choose this educational path again.

And it has been shown clearly in recent years that this location, which is close to home, is very stable and recognized.” Upgrading the rooms is part of it in order to remain attractive for the students, because other schools would also be courting them for their locations strengthen.

Technical room renovated for 142,000 euros

Another refurbishment measure was already completed last year: the technical room was upgraded from the ground up.

According to Streu, the main cost item was the equipment with furniture and machines for around 106,000 euros - in the technical room itself as well as in the adjoining room with tools and kiln.

In addition, the spruce slatted floor was replaced by a wipeable covering made of industrial plastic.

There was also electrical and painting work, so that the total cost was 142,000 euros.

According to Treasurer Jochen Goldammer, around a quarter of this went through the Forstern municipal budget, since elementary school students also use the room.

Taubert added that one of the main reasons for the renovation was that there were far too few jobs.

"The groups are now larger and need more places." Streu added the explanation that the state was canceling teaching hours, which is why the groups would be growing - "you can say that openly, everyone is being canceled".

Taubert went on to explain that if a group is too small, the school will no longer get the lessons.

That is why it is always important to have enough places.

For the subject teaching, which is essential for middle school, you need the appropriate conditions.

"So we are very happy that the space is now state-of-the-art."
