Yesterday (26th) at about 11 pm, the police received a report from a woman surnamed Du (37 years old) who said that she applied for an "online purchasing agent" through a job advertisement in a job search group on a social platform earlier. Click to shop, and you can earn commission by boosting your business reputation.

Du Nv first deposited 699 yuan into an account designated by the other party as instructed to use for shopping on the platform. She received a commission of 755 yuan shortly after, so she was not afraid of fraud, and then deposited about 35,000 yuan into the other party's account. Immediately after losing contact, she woke up like a dream and called the police for help.

The police classified the case as "obtaining property by deception" and handed it over to the Shatin District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.

The police remind the public that fraudsters' recruitment advertisements advertise "quick money," "high-level labor," "same-day pay," or "work from home", and there are no special requirements for applicants' age, education, and resume.

At the same time, fraudsters will not mention the actual position or job content when posting job advertisements or SMS promotions, and only provide instant messaging software or mobile phone number contact methods.

Fraudsters will even give out commissions after the victim's initial deposit to gain the victim's trust.

The police appeal to the public to call the "Anti-Scam Hotline" 18222 if they have any doubts about text messages of unknown origin.
