The G7 summit in Elmau is just around the corner.

Residents who live right next to the security area report on their experiences in a video interview.

Klais – Large helicopters are circling over the houses.

One blue light vehicle after the other lined up on the streets.

Fences everywhere, cops everywhere.

Here the locals live on the border to the 16-kilometer security zone around Schloss Elmau, where the G7 summit takes place from June 26th to 28th.

Evi Hien, 56 years old, master hairdresser and landlady, lives right on this border.

In her property "Altes Forsthaus" she actually rents out her three holiday apartments to vacationers.

Police officers and paramedics are hand in hand these days.

Evi Hien (56) lives right next to the security area of the G7 summit.

In an interview, she talks to Josef Hornsteiner from the Garmisch-Partenkirchner Tagblatt about her experiences.

How does she feel about the current situation next to the place that the whole world is looking at these days?

G7 summit security area sometimes makes it difficult for local residents to get home

Only cycling becomes a challenge every now and then.

On a tour on Friday, she wanted to go to the Wallgauer Alm in the neighboring town of the same name.

On the way back, a fence at a nearby fish farm in Klais suddenly blocked her way.

The police stopped them at the next bike path.

"Unfortunately, they are not allowed to go through there," said Römerweg, which runs across from their house.

So drive around the outside of the street again.

There, too, a policeman jumps in front of her bicycle.

Where is she going?

"Just home." When she got there, she had to smile again.

"It's not all easy," she says.

But overall she is satisfied.

"It'll be over again in a few days." Until then, she'll stay at home.

She has enough people to talk to.

Her 84-year-old mother Margarete and many friendly police officers.

Police officers almost compensate for customer losses at the G7 summit

At the entrance to Klais, Klaus Wurmer owns the only petrol station nearby.

Will he make a loss due to the loss of tourists?

"It's not that dramatic," says Wurmer.

After all, 90 percent of his customers currently include police officers.

Of course, that doesn't quite make up for the losses.

"But we're already used to it." He can definitely see positive things in the summit.

"It's great advertising for us."
