Korolev State University of Russia announced that its students are working on a project to develop a new satellite.
The Russian newspaper Vesti quoted the university's press service as saying in a statement issued today, "Several students of our university are working on a project to develop tools that will help them in assembling small satellites and will enable them to develop software for those satellites."
He explained that the main objective of the project is to give students the scientific and technical skills to develop satellite programs, spacecraft and remote sensors.
"The students at the university are supposed to develop a structure for a small satellite, weighing about one kilogram, 10 cm in length and 5 cm in width, despite its small size, but it will be a real satellite," said Alexey Kumarin, head of the youth club for space equipment at the university.
Korolev University had previously reported that its students are working on a project to develop new technologies for capturing satellite signals.
