In 2022 there will again be several shopping Sundays in Cologne.

The Cologne City Council confirmed the individual dates in June.

In the second half of the year there are a total of 13 shopping Sundays in Cologne, reports 24RHEIN.

As in the past, Sunday shopping is only valid in certain parts of the city - and sometimes only in individual streets.

Many of the shopping Sundays in Cologne are related to various city and Veedel festivals.

That is why there are also defined areas which shops are allowed to open on Sundays when they are open for business.

The best example: Sunday shopping on September 4th in Sülz and Klettenberg.

The framework for the campaign is the Das Carrée-Fest, which is a "well-known and attractive event beyond the borders of Cologne", explains the city.

Up to 150,000 visitors are expected.

"As with the street festival in Deutz, this festival is also in the public interest and, from the point of view of the administration, suffices as a justification for opening a sales outlet in accordance with Section 6 Paragraph 1 Clause 2 No. 1 LÖG NRW," explains the city as justification for a Sunday open shop.
