An expedition has located the deepest shipwreck in the world under the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
CNN reported that the ship (Sammy B), which was located by explorer Victor Veskovo, has become the deepest shipwreck in the world, located four miles under the Pacific Ocean and divided in two.
The deepest wreck previously identified and explored was the USS Johnston, which was found by Veskovo last year, at a depth of 6,469 metres.
Veskovo dived with the sonar specialist, Jeremy Morezie, to track the wreck from one end to the other, and it was found that the ship was broken into two pieces, about 10 meters away from each other.
The ship sank in the Battle of Samar on October 25, 1944, during which the US Navy defeated the largest Japanese fleet east of Samar Island in the Philippines.
