The election in Eichenau: These are the facts
In Eichenau, the mayor is elected extraordinarily due to a death in the past.
The elections take place two years after the local council elections.
This time incumbent Peter Münster (FDP), CSU councilor Peter Zeiler and newcomer Markus Hausberger are applying for the executive chair in the town hall.
Even observers of the election struggled with forecasts in advance.
But a runoff election, like the one that took place six years ago, seemed quite likely to many.
The fact is: the polling stations are open on Sunday, June 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
First results are expected around 6:30 p.m.
If a runoff election is necessary because none of the candidates has reached 50 percent, it will take place on July 10th.
The two people who get the most votes in the first ballot are involved.
