On the occasion of the 101st birthday of the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Gymnasium there is a diverse program spread over several days.

Bad Tölz –

This school summer will be a special one at the Tölz high school: for almost two weeks at the end of July, the focus will be on the school anniversary, which will be celebrated a year later due to the pandemic.

A multi-day program for the school family and alumni was prepared for the 101-year anniversary of the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Gymnasium.

The last school days, which are often agonizingly dragging on, have been loosened up this year with a variety of events.

Thomas Zimmermann and Katarina Schambeck are the main coordinators.

"We want the students to have something straight from the anniversary," they say.

On Wednesday, July 27th, there is a “Science Day”.

Classes and their leaders consider where their field trips will take them, whether to museums or tourist attractions.

The last days of school are relaxed

A historical commemorative publication is currently being prepared by high school students in a P seminar.

"Some of the people who used to be involved are no longer here," explains Zimmermann, they have already graduated from high school.

Two festive concerts in the Kurhaus officially open the anniversary festival on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 19 and 20.

"Rehearsals will take place again on special rehearsal days," explains Zimmermann, as was the tradition at the high school before the pandemic.

On Thursday, July 21st, the whole school family has to get involved in setting up the Friday afternoon open house.

At this anniversary, the Minister of Education gives cause for great joy, because Friday, July 22nd, there are no classes.

The reason is the obligatory ceremony with Minister of State Michael Piazolo, District Administrator, Mayor and other dignitaries in the Kurhaus.

It starts at 10 a.m.

In the afternoon there is a lot going on in the school building.

"On this day, students will present their projects that they have specially prepared for our anniversary," says Schambeck.

For example, natural scientists will show experiments, an archaeologist for Roman times has been invited, a lot of art will be on display in the school building and a play will be performed.

It starts at 5 p.m., followed by a seamless transition to the school festival from 7 p.m.

The Parents' Council takes care of the food.

Regular classes only take place on the Monday and Tuesday before the holidays.

After the "Day of Science" on Wednesday, the traditional hiking day takes place on Thursday.

The anniversary and the school year will end with a specially designed service in the parish church on Friday, July 29, which will be followed by the distribution of certificates at the high school.

Exhibitions in the city museum

Parallel to school events, former Tölz high school students and teachers present themselves as artists in their own exhibition in the town museum.

The response is overwhelming: since art teachers Stephanie Pütz, Rosemarie Freiberger and Felix Lampadius invited former students to take part in an art exhibition in March, more than 30 full-time artists who attended the Tölz high school have registered.

They were all shaped by one thing in particular: Max Weihrauch.

For 35 years he taught young people art as a teacher and painter.

He died in 2007. This show would bring him immense joy, seen in a self-portrait.

Design graphic artists, architects, photographers, lighting artists, fashion designers, painters, sculptors, graffiti artists, potters - the range of works of art is enormous and well worth seeing.

More information

The exhibition "Kunstschmiede" by former Tölz high school students can be seen in the Stadtmuseum until July 19th.

Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.
