Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and Deputy Minister Matan Kahana met today (Sunday) at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem.
During the meeting, the parties discussed options for the upcoming elections, from which it emerged that if Bennett retires from political life, the person who will lead the party is Ayelet Shaked.
However, between Kahana and Shaked, disagreements arose over the party's messages in the election.
While Shaked wants Shemina to support Netanyahu's candidacy for right-wing prime minister, Kahana refrained from doing so and sought to strive for a broad unity government.
As a result, it is possible that Bennett's retirement will also lead to Kahana's retirement.
The battle within the party revolves mainly around the financing of the parties, which gives the right a sum of more than NIS 10 million.
Earlier today, Shaked told Bennett at their meeting that she was interested in leading the right-wing party if Bennett retired from political life.
She added that later on she plans to join other parties - without disqualifying a possible alliance with Netanyahu.
The two met this weekend for the first time since the announcement of the dissolution of the 24th Knesset.
Shaked was in Morocco last week and was updated at the last minute by Bennett on the decision to go to the polls - which created tension between the two.
Behind the scenes, even earlier, Shaked managed to persuade MK Nir Orbach to postpone his support for the Knesset dissolution law for a week until she returned from abroad, but the chairman of the right decided together with his partner Yair Lapid to precede him.
This morning, Bennett said at his last cabinet meeting that he was "going to the polls and should take advantage of every minute left to clear a table."
He added that everything possible should be accelerated before the dissolution of the Knesset and wished success to Minister Lapid who will take office in a few days.
"In the near future, unfortunately, Israel will go to the polls, during which certain government actions will no longer be possible, but our responsibility towards the citizens of Israel continues even during the election period," he said.
"This was an excellent government that relied on a complex coalition, and here in the room there is a group of people who knew how to put aside ideological disagreements, rise above and work for Israel. There are long-term governments with very poor achievements, we are short-term governments with tremendous achievements."
Finally, Bennett thanked his fellow ministers and party leaders and called Mansour Abbas "my friend."
