Tomorrow in Bahrain: "Pisgat Hanegev" will receive permanent forum status Israel today

About three months after the "Pisgat Hanegev" conference in Sde Boker, tomorrow (Monday) there will be a follow-up meeting at the level of work levels.

The conference will be held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, with the participation of the US Representative for the Talks, Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Alon Ushpiz and his counterparts from Egypt, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Oded Yosef, deputy director of the Middle East and the Foreign Ministry's peace process, said in a press briefing ahead of the meeting that "the summit was a historic event in the development of Israel's ties with the peace countries, in the US "B, on various issues.

"Tomorrow will be a formalization of the forum, which means the implementation of the decisions made at the leaders' meeting."

According to the agreement reached at the summit of the Negev, it will continue to convene on three levels of work: a meeting of foreign ministers once a year in the desert of one of the countries;

The Steering Committee at the level of CEOs, which today will be its first conference, and the Working Groups Forum. These are six working groups, one dealing with security and the other with civic issues.

"Each working group will be headed by a different state, and tomorrow there will be a division. They will meet several times a year. The projects decided upon by the working groups will be brought to the attention of the foreign ministers at the annual meeting," Yosef updated.

He noted that many in the region have expressed interest in joining the forum.

"The timing of the meeting is not coincidental, but takes place on the eve of US President Joe Biden's visit to the area," he added. "The American presence is significant and very important.

Working groups will deal with the following areas:


1. Food and water security


2. Energy


3. Health


4. Education and tolerance


5. Tourism


6. Regional security
