British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday against the temptation of a negotiated solution "
now
" in Ukraine at the risk of prolonging "
global instability
", Downing Street said.
During a meeting on the sidelines of a G7 summit in Germany, the two leaders "
agreed that this was a critical moment for the evolution of the conflict and that it was possible to reverse the course of the war
," said a spokesman for the British government, adding that they had agreed to "
strengthen
" military support for Kiev.

The prime minister stressed that any attempt to settle the conflict now would only cause lasting instability and give Putin the right to manipulate sovereign countries and international markets in perpetuity
,” he added.
Frank discussions
Unlike Emmanuel Macron, Boris Johnson has refused any dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he has called a "
dictator
", since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the end of February.
In an interview with British media, Boris Johnson said Westerners should have at the G7 summit, followed by a NATO summit in Madrid, "
really, really frank discussions
" about the implications of the war and sanctions in terms of inflation in particular, in order to "
protect the unity
" displayed so far.
