The Arab Federation for E-Commerce launched this evening its regional office in Syria, as part of the activities of the “HITEC” exhibition for communication and technology technologies, which is held in its eighth session on the grounds of the new exhibition city in Damascus.
The Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Electronic Commerce, Major General Osama Al-Saudi, stressed in a statement to reporters that the digital transformation process in Syria is in a race against time and must continue at a steady pace to keep pace with the latest developments in the world of technology and communications and reach the ranks of advanced countries in this field, indicating that the importance of the digital transformation system It lies in facilitating the provision of services to those in need, and regulating the relations of governmental and non-governmental bodies with each other, and the relations of these bodies with citizens, which ensures the delivery of the required service to its requesters without trouble.
Al-Saudi added that Syria, as a result of the conditions of the war it went through, was late in this field, but the technological progress it is achieving today is a huge achievement for all those who are in charge of it. And his pursuit of everything new in the world of technology, especially that what distinguishes this exhibition is the vitality and activity that appeared through the young participants.
In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union, Muhammad Faraoun, stressed the importance of Syria having a place in the field of the digital economy by enhancing experiences and exchanging them with all Arab peoples to achieve good results in this field, which contributes to supporting joint Arab cooperation, upgrading technical services and achieving benefit for Syria and its people.
Director of the Executive Office of the Union, Ihab Abu Al-Shamat, highlighted the importance and necessity of working vigorously to activate cooperation between different countries, especially Arab countries, in the field of digital transformation and the transfer and exchange of experiences in a way that makes it easy to provide electronic services on a wider geographical scale and contributes to keeping pace with the rapid technical developments to implement projects that serve Syria and its people. in the field of digital transformation.
The Director of the Arab Group for Exhibitions and the organizer of “HITEC” exhibition, Engineer Alaa Hilal, confirmed that the launch of the office is an achievement that gives a great Arab dimension to all Syrian companies specialized in the field of informatics and to Syrian programmers who, once they are affiliated with the union, are able to use its capabilities in introducing applications, ideas and software to reach all parts of the Arab world and this It comes as a real fruit of the work of the digital transformation conference organized by the group in Damascus during the month of April of last year.
