Yigal Pistsky, 82, a resident of Petah Tikva, married with three children, arrived as usual to work out in a gym from the Holmes Place chain in Givat Shmuel, but collapsed during physical activity.

The staff at the scene immediately began basic resuscitation operations, which included giving two shells from the defibrillator that was at the scene.

An MDA team that arrived at the scene continued the treatment and evacuated Yigal to Beilinson Hospital for cardiology treatment

.

"It's going to take some time, but it's going to be okay," Pistsky said in a conversation with Walla !. I remember myself on the treadmill and then remember getting up and being in Beilinson.

I opened my eyes.

The children told me what had happened, that I had fallen, and one of the instructors rescued me on the spot, as soon as I fell, and immediately performed resuscitation with the defibrillator.

Pistsky added and shared the feeling at the moment of the collapse.

"You lose all feeling, feel nothing. They say I opened my eyes and said I wanted to get up. Only on the second day was I more focused," he said.

Yigal also shared that he has since returned home, and that he is resting and recovering.

"I received treatment that is not from this world. Like angels on earth," Yigal praised the hospital.

Pistsky also said he did not intend to give up his sports routine so quickly, saying that "I can go back to the gym in about a month but more relaxed than I am used to, not going wild as I liked."

Tom Hillel, 27, from Ramat Gan, worked as a gym instructor for about two months at the time.

Hillel said that that morning he took a regular tour of the place and found Yigal unconscious.

"I work a lot in the

mornings and see him every morning," Hillel said.

This real situation is heaven and earth, "said Hillel, who took a course of first training at Wingate and also at the gym." It was stressful, I realized it was a heart attack.

My instincts worked at that moment, I did massages with the help of another instructor, I saw that he was starting to breathe.

"" It is important to say that all first aid courses save lives and everyone should do them, "Hillel concluded,

In real life you realize how critical it is, and in what miracle it can be reversed.

Without it do not know if he was alive.

That is the key message. "

Dr. Tali Porter, director of a cardiology inpatient unit that has accompanied Pistsky for a long time, also reinforces the importance of defibrillator devices in the public space, “It is important to say that it saved his life.

There was a very correct response from the staff.

They saved him, "she said.

" He is 82 years old, but in good condition.

There is a chronological age and there is a biological one, he is younger, Porter said, "he is a healthy, optimistic and athletic person. Two weeks before that he did a perfectly normal exercise test that young people from him do not pass."

The doctor further said that as in many cases of cardiac arrest, the incident was erased from Pistsky's memory.

"He told me he was missing that part of the memory. When he tried to recreate the last moments, the brain alone fills holes in the memory," she said. It turned out to be true. "

"There are a lot of patients who go through CPR outside the hospital and the staff gets them to the ward and there are cases that are particularly touching," said Revital Liluz, director of intensive care at Beilinson Hospital, "because it's an 82-year-old who trains every day, and then something like that happens.
