In the Steinhöring abuse trial, the court has now examined the past life of the accused.

Why became clear on the day of the trial.

Steinhöring/Munich

– For three months, a 69-year-old has had to answer to the Munich district court for serious sexual abuse of four girls.

The court shed light on the defendant's entire past life - far beyond the allegations.

The reason for this now seems clear.

Eleven years in prison for robbery - then the abuses are said to have followed

The accused had just been in prison for eleven years for an armed robbery when he moved to Steinhöring in 2006.

He befriends a woman in the neighborhood and often hangs out in the apartment where she lives with her then five-year-old daughter.

During visits to McDonald's and other joint ventures, he also gets to know his daughter's friends.

When the girls are ten to eleven years old, according to the indictment, the first attacks occur: the accused is said to have laid in bed with the daughter and one with her sleeping friend and engaged in sexual acts.

Allegation: Five-year-old abused a hundred times

Later he is said to have driven into a wooded area with one of the girlfriends to be satisfied there.

He is said to have played tickle games with another friend and touched the girl immorally.

He is said to have abused his then five-year-old daughter a hundred times.

The accused has denied the allegations.

On Monday, the criminal court heard a psychiatric expert.

She found the defendant fully culpable.

Although alcohol played a role in some of the alleged acts, the psychiatrist found that this was not enough for admission to a rehab clinic.

Personality disorder, but diagnosed with full criminal responsibility

And a preventive detention?

The expert did not want to commit himself, but found clear words about the mental state of the 69-year-old.

In addition to "sexual deviance" she attested to him having a "dissocial personality disorder".

He tends to "compulsively lie" and strives to present himself more positively than he is.

For example, at the start of the trial, the 69-year-old stated that he owned real estate and investments in Germany and abroad and that he had set up a medical technology company in Italy with sales in the three-digit million range.

All of this has not been confirmed.

Preventive detention for the accused under discussion

The accused was "manipulative," explained the psychiatrist.

Witnesses described him as "irresponsible" and "without empathy".

On several occasions he failed to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from sanctions.

The expert summarized that the 69-year-old met almost all the criteria that speak for a tendency to commit serious crimes.

At the same time, the prospects for therapy are “extremely poor because of the advanced age”.

If the court agrees with this assessment and considers the accused to be dangerous to the public, the order of preventive detention can be considered in addition to a conviction.

The verdict is expected at the end of July.
