The Ministry of Health announced today (Monday) that an abortion reform has been approved, which is intended to make it easier for women to undergo the abortion procedure in Israel.
The new regulations are expected to take effect in three months, according to which questions about contraception, menstruation and previous abortions will be stopped.
In addition, the women who wish to undergo the procedure will not be required to physically stand before the committee where they decide whether to approve the termination of the pregnancy.
Beyond that, the woman will also not be required to physically meet the social worker, whose job definition will change, and she will be a resource for the applicant to choose.
Also, for the first time, women will be given the opportunity to have a medical abortion at the health funds.
Today, women are forced to go to day hospitalization or surgery clinics for termination of pregnancy - both when it is early in medication and when it is not needed.
It was further stated that the old forms will be reformulated, the degrading questions will be removed and the questionnaire will be reduced to the minimum required.
The form will go through a digitization process so that committee members will receive the full information in advance, and the woman applying can submit the referral remotely.

"We canceled this ridiculous circular. When I saw the abortion committee's procedures it seemed like a bad joke. The questionnaire form included degrading questions and not anyone's interest, certainly not the state's."
