After work market defies the storm

After two years, the popular after-work market took place again in Oberschleißheim.

The visitors did not let the rain spoil their mood.

The appearance at the after-work market in Oberschleißheim was designed as a small finger exercise in between.

In addition, "Magic Dresi" really enjoys making the youngest of his fan base laugh.

But suddenly it starts to rain.

In the middle of the heat wave, the floodgates of the sky open over the north of Munich.

At a moment when the after-work market is about to start again after a two-year break caused by the pandemic on Schleißheim's Bürgerplatz.

"The sun shone all week," says Petra Walther from the Oberschleißheim hobby artists, somewhat contritely.

On this evening she offers handmade jewellery, clothing and self-made notepads.

Evening party with live music cancelled

The fact that the first after-work market in the post-corona era fell through so mercilessly that Eva-Maria Kamrad from the market guild did not expect it at all.

For years, the German Market Guild in Oberschleißheim has been organizing a weekly market and days of action with the trade association or around asparagus.

14 stand vendors had already registered.

After Mayor Markus Böck (CSU) had to cancel the evening party with live music due to severe weather warnings, some of the sellers didn't even come.

Eva-Maria Kamrad is primarily concerned with the operators of small pavilions.

"If there's a strong gust, it'll blow away." Meanwhile, visitors in t-shirts and shorts crowd under the market roof with light art, right next to Kamrad's wheel of fortune.

Funny balloon figures

Meanwhile, "Magic Dresi" is in his element, building rabbits, horses and penguins out of balloon snakes at a ridiculous pace, skilfully letting the air pump twirl through the air like a cocktail waiter.

Who says you can't have fun in bad weather?

The youngest squeal enthusiastically.

The balloon artist, magician and ventriloquist from Markt Oberdorf recently rocked the Expo in Dubai.

"Magic Dresi" has arrived with his friend, the magician Uwe Seling.

Seling has already filled entire halls elsewhere with his Magic Show.

At the after-work market in Oberschleißheim, he enjoys showing half a dozen children a few tricks.

He is just pulling a saber through his mouth when the sun breaks through the firmament.

Tasty potato skewers

To celebrate, Armin Heckl sticks a couple of potato slices onto a skewer and sinks the whole thing into boiling oil.

It smells like fries as he spreads salt on the potato skewer.

With his wife Martina, Armin Heckl sells fruit and vegetables from the Aichach-Friedberg district.

He is particularly proud of his new potatoes, the aroma of which gives the skewers a real kick.

He looks gratefully at the departing clouds.

"I was lucky again." That could have gone very differently.

Armin Heckl puts a fried potato slice in his mouth and smiles: "Mmh, delicious!" he exclaims ecstatically.

"Mm delicious", that's what he called his shop.
