An Amtrak train traveling from Los Angeles, California, to Chicago, Illinois, derailed Monday after colliding with a truck at a railroad crossing in Mendon, rural Missouri.
There were 243 passengers aboard the train when the accident occurred around 1:40 p.m. Central Time.
Several were injured, but how many and their condition is unknown, NBC News reported.
Emergency teams have rushed to the area and are providing aid to the affected people, local authorities said.
The incident comes a day after the derailment of another train in California that collided with a car.
Three people died.
