WNBA star Brittney Griner's detention in a Russian prison has been extended for six months pending trial, which begins on Friday, her attorney, Alexander Boykov, told CNN.
Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport in February on charges of allegedly trying to smuggle drugs.
She is currently being held in a New Grishino remand center north of Moscow, according to Boykov.
