The "Gaigastoana" celebrated their 100th birthday with a field service and a big procession - a year late.

Numerous clubs from the neighboring villages came to the celebration.

The weather couldn't have been better.

Sachsenkam - When Upper Bavaria's Trachtler parade, the streets are usually lined with enthusiastic visitors.

Not so in Sachsenkam, where the “Gaigastoana” costumers celebrated their 100th anniversary on Sunday – with everything that goes with it: church procession, field service and a subsequent procession through the village.

"It's easy for us to explain.

If the other five Sachsenkamer village associations march along alongside the traditional costume association, then there are hardly any people left to watch,” explained Peter Nöscher, director of traditional costumes.

satisfied.

Eleven traditional costume associations and ten music bands from the region

A total of eleven neighboring traditional costume associations from the region came with their delegations to the anniversary and another ten bands and marching bands.

Dean Thomas Neuberger celebrated the festive service for the Trachtler anniversary in glorious weather with a bright blue sky and hardly a cloud.

The new blessing of the completely restored club flag from 1959 and a new flag ribbon to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the club was also integrated.

The offspring of the “Gaigastoana” were also very happy to be there on Sunday.

In the recent recent past, primarily only the founding flag from 1923 was still in use.

However, after time had left its mark on the flag from 1959, the entire flag cloth had to be replaced, only the embroidered motifs were preserved.

"Anyone who can, can sit down now and we'll make it short for the others," the dean introduced in his sermon, which revolved around the common saying "yes, yes, same".

In other words, an indefinite commitment to a project whose fulfillment is often a long time coming.

"Thank God there were people in Sachsenkam 100 years ago who said a clear yes when the association was founded, so that we can celebrate a nice party today."

Minute of silence for Max Gast

Appropriately for the occasion, Neuberger's altar boys were also dressed in traditional costume this time.

After a minute's silence for the recently deceased Sachsenkamer former mayor Max Gast (we reported), Mayor Andreas Rammler, patron of the celebrations, also brought his congratulations on the Trachtler anniversary.

At that time it was the concern about the extinction of the traditional customs that led to the founding of the traditional costume association.

And today, with their ex-and-hop mentality, the Trachtlers would counter modern throwaway society with a culture of mindfulness in which the traditional values for the community were preserved.

"Even if there is already an app 'How to learn Schuhplattler' (editor's note in German: "How to learn Schuhplattler"), there is nothing better than

The Plattler board of directors took the same line, which in its thanksgiving addressed the young people in traditional costume in particular: “They were always energetic and there in large numbers.

Regardless of whether it was to set up the marquee or to convert the tent for the various events.”

Satisfied with the festival week

Overall, Nöscher was extremely satisfied with the course of the Sachsenkamer Festwoche: "Only on Saturday evening at the Tanzlmusi meeting, there should have been a few more visitors." the 100-year anniversary of the “Gaigastoana” ended on Sunday.

Strictly speaking, it was the "100 + 1 year old" of the association founded in 1921 - because of Corona.

But that did not detract from the good mood at the celebrations.
