Good news for families: the child bonus from the relief package will be paid out in July.

Who is entitled to the payment, when the amount will be transferred.

Berlin – The rising energy and food prices in recent months have put many people in Germany under pressure.

In order to relieve the burden on the citizens, the government has decided on an extensive relief package, which, in addition to an energy flat rate, a one-time payment for Hartz IV recipients and a nine-euro ticket, also includes a child bonus for families.

Who will receive the child bonus and when the money will be transferred.

Who will receive the child bonus 2022?

According to the employment agency, the child bonus 2022 will be paid for every child who is entitled to child benefit for at least one month in 2022.

The bonus is 100 euros per child.

Anyone who has applied for child benefit for their newborn baby in 2022 will also receive the child bonus.

What do you have to do to receive the child bonus?

As a rule, families do not have to do anything: If they receive child benefit, they also receive the child bonus.

This is then paid out automatically, usually to the parent who is entitled to child benefit.

When is the child bonus paid out?

The child bonus is paid out in July – but not together with the child benefit, but a few days after the regular child benefit payment, as the employment agency explains.

When exactly the money ends up in the account can be found out via the child benefit number.

Because the payment date depends on the last digit of the child benefit number.

If the last digit is 0, you will receive child benefit on July 5th, for example, if the last digit is 1 on July 6th - and so on.

Those who end in 9 will have to wait the longest: until July 19th.

A few days later, the child bonus should follow on the account.

However, the authorities did not specify an exact date.

Is the child bonus taxable?

According to the Ministry of Finance, the child bonus does not represent taxable income, but is part of the tax family benefit adjustment.

It is taken into account together with the child benefit as part of the comparative calculation to be carried out in the income tax assessment.

This means that the tax office then calculates whether child benefit including a child bonus or the child allowance is more advantageous for the parents.

High-income families can therefore only benefit partially or not at all from the child bonus.

According to the Ministry of Finance, for example, a jointly assessed couple with two children with an income of up to EUR 69,040 receives the full child bonus for both children.

From an income of 85,974 euros, the bonus in the case outlined is fully offset against the two child allowances.

According to the Ministry of Finance, however, more than 75 percent of children receive full relief from the child bonus.

Do Hartz IV recipients also get the 100 euro child bonus?

There is good news for Hartz IV recipients and their children: The child bonus is not considered as income in their case either - this means they can benefit from the payment in full.

In addition, all Hartz IV recipients will receive a Corona bonus in July in the form of a one-time payment of 200 euros.

From July there will also be a monthly supplement of 20 euros for children and young adults up to the age of 25 who live with their parents or one parent in the same household and receive unemployment benefit II, social security benefits or benefits for education and participation under SGB II.
