Cs charges that ask for the resignation of Arrimadas will meet with her at the meeting to tackle the party's crisis

Critical members of the formation attend this Monday the extraordinary council in which their "refoundation" will be addressed in the midst of a tense and "warm" environment

The leader of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, and the president of France, Enmanuel Macron, in Brussels, at the meeting of European liberals, this Thursday.EFE

A week after the disastrous results of the Andalusian elections, which left Ciudadanos touched and sunk, both nationally and regionally, the party faces a day of heart attack this Monday.

The president of the party, Inés Arrimadas, appealed last Monday, for the first time, to the "refoundation" to tackle the crisis that Ciudadanos has been going through for months and that has precipitated after the 19-J elections, in which he failed no seat.

The dome of the formation faces two key meetings this Monday: the extended executive, in the morning, and the general council, in the afternoon.

In the second meeting, Arrimadas will face some of the organic positions that have publicly requested these days both her resignation and that of the rest of the board.

"Things are going to be hot"

Arrimadas will explain, both to the expanded executive and to the council, what is the roadmap to follow for the "plan of attack" that the work commission has designed to draw up the "refoundation" of the party.

For now, what is clear is that on the table is the possibility of a change of name, brand and program.

And it will be the bases that will have to endorse both these postulates and the organic teams, as well as if it is decided to open the debate on leadership.

More details will be given this Monday, but for now, two meetings have already been scheduled in July with affiliates to exchange analyzes and impressions on how to face the refoundation.

The first will be next week and the "listening process" will continue in September, after the holidays.

The poor results in Andalusia and the pressure from the bases precipitate the "refoundation" of Ciudadanos

Before these two meetings with affiliates, the president of the party has to face, this Monday, a tough extraordinary conclave with the 125 councilors, among whose members there are voices openly critical of the leadership, such as Sergio García, secretary of the Organization of Asturias.

"If you apply the same solution to a problem, over and over again, and it doesn't get resolved, either you are part of the problem, or others must try to solve it," Garcia wrote in a tweet on Monday.

✅ Measures need to be taken, whatever it takes.

The general council has planned on the agenda to approve some party accounts and then start the crisis cabinet, in which those who deem appropriate may intervene.

It is the first time, after the pandemic, that the directors can attend the session in person, which will further tighten the rope with critical members.

Since March 2020, just when Arrimadas was elected as president of the party in primary elections against Francisco Igea, just a few days before the first confinement, Ciudadanos has chained debacle after debacle in the regional elections of Catalonia, Madrid, Castilla y León and, now Andalusia.

“Decisions have to be made and those decisions imply assuming responsibilities.

They have to resign.

All the congresses of the universe can come now.

The board of directors has failed.

As long as the executive committee does not leave, there can be no refoundation.

I am not saying that they are guilty, but they are responsible”, affirms Ramiro Domínguez, vice president of the Cortes de Aragón and another of the 125 councilors, who will not be able to be at the meeting this Monday because he has to attend to matters in the regional Parliament.

It is expected that, during the speaking time, some of the directors will demand responsibilities from Arrimadas and the board.

“Of course the entire executive has to resign, and not only because of the results in Andalusia.

We have lost 88 regional deputies in recent months.

This is no longer Rivera's fault, it is their management's fault.

Arrimadas is the worst manager we could have had”, affirms a director.

“The first thing will be to listen to what they plan to present to the councilors and to know what plan they have been designing during these months.

And from there, assess how the meeting develops, ”adds another critical member about her intervention in the conclave.

Among the 125 directors there are regional deputies, provincial coordinators, mayors or organic ex-charges.

Who will not be at the meeting will be Teresa Pardo, Cs export spokesperson in the Andalusian Parliament, who, although she still appears on the party's website as a counselor, resigned from all her positions, as EL PAÍS has learned through from sources around you.

Not as an affiliate.

Pardo had not made her resignation public so as not to influence the Andalusian campaign, which has finally blown everything up.

Arrimadas has ruled out that he is going to resign, although management sources admit that he will not "entrench himself" in the position if the tension soars.

The leader of Cs is willing for her leadership to be called into question by the bases, as well as that of the rest of her colleagues in the Executive, but she understands that this is not the time to leave the formation "lying away" while it is being rebuilt, despite that for her, as she has stated, it would be “the easiest thing”.

Party sources point to the deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, as her successor, but the Madrid mayor's entourage denies that she is going to take a step forward for the moment.

For the Villacís environment, the deputy mayor does more for the brand and "pulls more of the acronyms" with her work from the City Council.

Some acronyms that could have the days numbered.
