Elsewhere, rooks are a real nuisance.
In many communities, attempts are being made - mostly in vain - to scare the birds away.
In Garching, however, the crow is now the savior against wild parkers.
Garching
– An outright Garchinger eyesore, which has been stirring up spirits for years, is located between Dieselstrasse and Mallertshofener Strasse.
In order to stop the wild parkers and their pollution, a fence should now bring the solution.
Colonies of rooks have settled on the site in question.
These should now be protected with a fence.
Two birds with one stone
The city is killing two birds with one stone.
Because for years she has been trying to force illegal and wild parkers out of the area.
So far without success.
Another major problem is illegal waste disposal and dumping, as well as dirt and debris left behind by truck drivers.
"Of course we're shifting the problem of parking, that's clear to us," said Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD).
But at least the birds are protected in the wood.
The poultry is endangered and is on the red list in some European countries.
Cost: 60,000 euros
First of all, a fence is planned on the west and north side of the site, the cost of which the building authority estimates at around 60,000 euros.
"However, without also including the southern side of the area, it makes no sense," emphasized Florian Baierl (UG) and Rudolf Naisar (SPD) and suggested that the southern strip be provided with a fence as well.
Legal review is pending
However, a legal examination is still pending, explains the head of the building authority, Klaus Zettl.
Because the wood actually has to be accessible to the public.
“Of course, that contradicts the fact that we are protecting the rook,” says Zettl.
He is now hoping for clarification in discussions with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority in Freising.
