The director of Iranian ports, Ali Akbar Safaei, announced that Greece had released the Iranian oil tanker, indicating that it was currently heading towards a foreign ship to receive its oil shipment.
"The naval force of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian army is able to solve this issue," Safai said during the World Sailor's Day ceremony today, explaining that Iran's naval military forces provide security for all domestic and foreign ships.
Safaei added, "The Iranian sailors have continued their activities with courage and valor over the past years in light of various sanctions and risks," noting that the Iranian shipping sector needs five thousand officers, especially in light of the spread of piracy in recent years.
Safaei also indicated that there is another urgent need for the shipping sector in the country, which is to modernize and develop the fleet, indicating that his country intends to build and purchase 150 ships to maintain the dynamics of maritime trade.
