The district of Munich wants to expand the state vocational school in Munich-Riem.

The extension is scheduled to be completed by the 2026/27 school year.

District - The costs are estimated at 73.36 million euros, without underground parking and without a buffer for cost increases.

The district councils opted for a timber hybrid construction, even if the construction is around 4.5 to 5 million euros more expensive than in reinforced concrete construction.

The range of tasks of the state vocational school on Graf-Lehndorff-Strasse in Riem has become more and more extensive.

In addition to around 400 prospective farmers, housekeepers and horse keepers, the Feldkirchen branch has also been looking after young people without a training place in “vocational preparation” for a number of years.

The district has also been training nannies for a school year, also outsourced to the technical school in Feldkirchen.

Both branches will move to Riem as soon as the new building is put into operation.

In addition, a specialist academy for social education will move into the new building.

The vocational school for agriculture, home economics and horse management still has the largest space requirement with 3965 square meters.

The extension is a four-part building with two inner courtyards.

11,700 square meters are needed for school purposes.

The development plan allows for a further 800 square meters.

They could be available for apartments.

The school administration wanted more classrooms instead of housing.

However, the district councilors advocated apartments: the planning team will now examine whether a residential building can be erected in the eastern part of the construction site.

This is intended to cover the housing needs of trainee teachers, young teachers and adult students.

A caretaker's apartment is also planned.

"It will be a really great building," praised CSU district councilor Maria Knoller.

Gudrun Hackl-Stoll (Greens) and Alexander Greulich (SPD) joined.

Greulich found: "The planning is appealing and up-to-date." Like Knoller, Anton Stürzer (CSU) and Ismaning's mayor Greulich advocated housing construction as "a key factor in the success of school construction".

A larger, modern machine hall is built for the training area for farmers.

It is to be erected in a replacement component on the site of the existing hall.

After coordination with the school management, only a 500 square meter single gymnasium with a gymnastics room is required for school sports instead of the double sports hall with 800 square meters previously planned by the district.

In return, the school management reports more need for parking spaces: According to building law, the construction volume would only result in 41 parking spaces.

However, previous school operations show that this is not enough, according to the school management.

However, one would get by with 70 parking spaces, which could be used and occupied alternately with the Riem racing club.
