At about 11:43 in the middle of the night yesterday (26th), two private cars were traveling along the Fanling Highway in the direction of Kowloon.

On the way to Fanling, two cars collided, one of them crashed into a roadside water horse, and then burst into flames. The whole car was caught in flames.

Firefighters rushed to use a throat and a team of smoke hats to put out the fire, and put out the fire nearly 20 minutes later.

Fortunately, there were no casualties in the accident, but the drivers of the two vehicles involved are still unknown.


The source said that at the time of the incident, several private cars were racing on the road one after another. After the accident, someone got off the car and ran towards the two cars involved to check. Afterwards, there were many men and women in the two cars. They boarded other vehicles and fled.

As seen at the scene, there was a paper certificate of vaccination records of a man surnamed Yang (39 years old) left on the private car that did not catch fire; and 15 minutes after the incident, the police received a report from Yang man, saying that he was parked in Lok Ma Chau. His car was stolen from Ngau Tam Mei Road. After he was brought back to the scene for investigation, the police believed he was the driver involved and suspected that he had reported a false case in an attempt to confuse the public. He was arrested on suspicion of "misleading police officers".

Affected by the accident, traffic at the scene was severely blocked.

The Transport Department announced at 0:07 a.m. that the entire route of Fanling Highway (towards Kowloon) was closed due to vehicle fire. Motorists should consider switching to other roads. At 0:28 a.m., some traffic lanes were still closed. , until the closure was lifted around 1:40 am.
