In November 2019, a 70-year-old cleaner filmed a clash between protesters and citizens clearing roadblocks in Sheung Shui. He was hit in the head by flying bricks and died. The two juveniles involved in the murder case will continue the trial in the High Court today (27th).

Judge Du Libing told the jury that the evidence in the case was insufficient to support the murder charge, so the original murder charge would be replaced by manslaughter.

The two defendants are Liu Zilong (19 years old) and Chen Yanting (18 years old), who were originally charged with three counts of murder, intentional wounding and rioting, alleging that they murdered Luo Changqing (70 years old) on November 14, 2019, and On the 13th of the same month, he was with others outside the North District Town Hall at No. 2 Lung Wan Street, Sheung Shui, intending to hurt X, who was 61 years old at the time of the incident, and participated in the riot.

The judge told the jury this morning that after hearing arguments from lawyers earlier, he believed the evidence in the case was insufficient to support the elements required for the murder charge, so the charge would be replaced by manslaughter.

The judge also pointed out that the case was adjourned to tomorrow because the defense's psychiatrist was unable to testify in court today.

The first defendant will not defend himself and call witnesses, so the case will begin with the second defendant tomorrow.
