Update from June 26, 8:45 p.m .:

The arrival of US President Joe Biden in Munich and then in Elmau caused a stir several times: Not only did the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr.

Markus Söder was mocked by the network because of his choice of clothing, Biden also used a surprising means of transport to get to Elmau.

But Söder's greeting did not go uncommented either: At the start of the G7 summit in Elmau, he welcomed the participating heads of state and government with a greeting on Twitter - except for Olaf Scholz, who was missing from the posted photo.

This caused irritation, to which Söder now reacted.

In a ZDF special, the CSU boss put it on record: "The Chancellor is not a foreign state guest, but the Chancellor.

And Bavaria still definitely belongs to Germany.

And so should it stay".

The fact that he forgot or intentionally left out Scholz was far-fetched, according to Söder.

Update from June 26, 1:07 p.m .:

The protest of the G7 opponents in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, announced as a large demo, has begun.

Apparently only around 150 participants came.

The police are clearly in the majority.

Gradually, more demonstrators are added.

A rally is currently taking place on St.-Martin-Straße in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Franz Haslbeck from the protest alliance "Stop G7 Elmau" continues to look for folders for the demo via microphone.

Update from June 26, 12:20 p.m .:

At the press conference of the G7 opponents’ protest camp, the activists gave insights into their planned actions for the next few days.

The big demo in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is scheduled for this Sunday at 1 p.m.

One expects participants who are currently on their way from Munich.

On Monday at 10 a.m. there will be star marches with activists from the Global South - for example from Morocco - a hike is also planned in the direction of Elmau.

G7 summit in Elmau: activists in the protest camp complain about demo requirements

There were complaints that the actions were approved very late and that conditions were surprisingly decided.

The letter from the authorities said that outhouses had to be set up for the demo and that dogs were also forbidden.

The activists complained against both points.

Toilet houses do not have to be set up after all, the ban on dogs remains.

A demo at Schloss Elmau was also initially banned.

50 demonstrators are now allowed to demonstrate, but they should be driven there with police buses.

This is not reasonable for the participants from the Global South.

The activists are also suing against the stand at the castle.

"It's not within call and sight," emphasized applicant Franz Haslbeck.

500 meters as the crow flies between the planned location and the conference venue Schloss Elmau.

"They wanted to take us for fools, there's no other way to put it." In the end, the camp expresses its solidarity with two people who were apparently arrested in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last night.

They didn't want to say more about it.

Update from June 26, 10:20 a.m.:

Greenpeace activists placed a 60-meter peace sign made of burning candles on a rock face near Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Saturday evening shortly before the start of the G7 summit.

A Greenpeace spokeswoman said that this was an appeal to the heads of state and government to accelerate the phase-out of fossil fuels in order to decisively advance climate protection and enable a more peaceful world.

Almost a dozen activists had carried 310 oversized tea lights to 1,600 meters on the Waxenstein and lit them there.

On banners they demanded "G7: Exit Fossils, Enter Peace" and "G7: Stop gas, oil and coal now".

"It is the income from gas, oil and coal that finances Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine on a daily basis," the spokeswoman warned.

It would be a fatal mistake to now replace Russian imports with fossil fuels from other countries to the same extent.

That would further fuel the climate catastrophe and fuel new crises and conflicts.

So far, the German G7 presidency has made little progress on climate protection and the global energy transition.

Update from June 25, 11:05 p.m.:

On the sidelines of the upcoming G7 summit in Elmau, there was a protest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen around 10 p.m.

The heads of the G7 heads of state and government were projected onto the large Olympic ski jump.

Below you can read: “Corona, climate, hunger – G7, can you make the jump?” The saying was also in English and French.

The campaign was organized by "One", a movement that, according to its own press release, "is committed to ending extreme poverty and avoidable diseases by 2030." However, it is questionable whether the projection is visible as far as Elmau.
