A violin maker from Wallgau will receive a special honor at the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau: she is part of the supporting program for the first ladies.
Wallgau/Elmau – It was the phone call of her life when Maria Sandner from Wallgau (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district) found out from an employee of the Federal Foreign Office that she was allowed to play the violins for the first ladies – or the supporting program for the G7 summit .
As a gift for the wives of the seven most powerful heads of state in the world, she brings miniature violin necks that she has carved herself.
On Monday morning she will receive the great honor at the Schlosshotel Elmau.

First, Enrico Corongiu, mayor of Mittenwald, touched the master violin maker.
The federal government came across their videos on Instagram on the Internet and was enthusiastic.

Sandner almost became famous when she made her big appearance on the Spanish "Das Supertalent" in 2021.
She played her tiny work of art in front of an audience of millions.
All of this appealed so much to the organizers of the G7 summit that they wanted to get to know the 51-year-old and hire them for the wives of the heads of state.
Corongiu told her that, and he passed the number on to the Foreign Office.
"I couldn't really believe it at first," said the Wallgauerin.
After she hung up, she knew immediately which wood she would use for the mini violin necks: "A very special piece of maple from the Isar valley." Especially because it has a rare, fine-meshed grain.
"When I saw the piece of wood back then, I thought to myself, I have to keep it for a special occasion." And that came with the call from the authorities at the beginning of June.

She immediately set to work.
She made exactly nine violin necks from the piece of wood: for Jill Biden, Britta Ernst, Brigitte Macron and the other women.
"It's symbolic," says Sandner.
"There are nine different snails, all of them are individual in their own way and yet they all come from the same wood." As with humans, she says.
Everyone is different in their own way and "yet we are all the same".

She will present the unique items at Schloss Elmau.
The original plan in the violin making museum in Mittenwald failed for safety reasons.
"Too tight, too difficult to protect." In addition, today she will use examples to explain to the women how a violin is made and best of all: the first ladies are even allowed to lend a hand - and plan a violin.
It is a homage to 2015: At that time, a photo of Obama and Merkel went around the world - now the G7 participants are posing together in front of the legendary wooden bench.
