It's so green: Geretsried is one of 14 municipalities across Germany that have been selected by the “Communities for Biological Diversity” alliance for the “City Green near to Nature” label.

Geretsried - In the most recent Geretsrieder city council meeting, Volker Witte (Greens), speaker for the topics of environment, climate protection and energy, presented the first part of his annual report.
Since climate protection has increasingly come into focus in recent years, and since there is already a lot to report on this alone, Volker Witte split his report into two parts.
So he will continue the second part in the coming city council meeting on Tuesday, June 28th.
Nevertheless, the environmental officer listed some of the city's important points in terms of climate protection.
The “Stadtgrün naturnah” labeling procedure was important, for example, and Geretsried received the silver label in the end.
The alliance "Municipalities for Biological Diversity" and the organization "German Environmental Aid" certified the city for its green space strategy and for the resulting flowering meadows.
"It's a great award and hopefully an incentive to get the label in gold next time," he said.
In the next move, Witte recalled the commitment of the adult education center, the forest park and the district management in the districts.
They would do more to protect the environment and climate.

He also emphasized the advantages of the successful Tree Protection Ordinance.
In this way, construction sites could be relocated or construction site access routes planned differently.
According to Witte, the pollutant values at the former landfill site on Jeschkenstraße are also developing well.
There would now be a small garden settlement on site.
The speaker also emphasized the use of the city's widely announced "Ramadame".
urban forest management
Witte spoke commendably about the cooperation with the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, which is responsible for managing the city forest.
"The bark beetle is currently largely under control and the situation on the wood market is being used well," explained Witte.
Finally, Witte highlighted how he had increased public relations.
He was represented with an information stand at the Day of Urban Development Funding.
Another important date is the forest festival on September 24th.
Among other things, sustainability, waste avoidance and bee protection should be the main topics.
