The district hunting association Erding continues to rely on Thomas Schreder at the top.

He was confirmed in office with a large majority and still has a lot planned for the next few years.

Lengdorf – Thomas Schreder remains chairman of the District Hunting Association (KJV) Erding.

He had previously explained that he continues to be motivated and enjoys volunteering.

Now he wants to continue working on the acceptance of hunting in the public and make the KJV attractive for young hunters.

Over 90 percent of the 59 members present voted for the long-standing district chairman at the annual general meeting on Friday evening in Lengdorf.

Election manager Dieter Sedlmayer was a little disappointed about the small number of visitors: "We would have wished for a few more." Because only 59 of the around 550 members came.

What was it?

Schreder cited a large number of events and the unusual date in June instead of January as reasons.

In his statement of accounts, he went into detail about what has been achieved.

These included the school environmental vehicle, the members' magazine, the website, the culture prize, the active hunting horn blowers, the Jagafest and the progress made in fawn rescue.

Schreder, who worked as head of the communications department there until he was defeated in the election for president of the Bavarian Hunting Association, sees future tasks primarily in public relations.

"We need acceptance, the whole range of our work has to be shown to the outside world," he said.

It shouldn't be "that balcony biologists from the third floor call out to us how we should hunt".

Only education leads to the fact that the importance of the work of the hunters is seen and accepted.

The district association will continue to work shoulder to shoulder with the Bavarian Farmers' Association and forest owners for local wildlife and the preservation of wildlife habitats.

School environmental education is to be expanded.

This not only compensates for the knowledge deficit "that school children know more about elephants than about native wild animals".

Schreder is convinced that environmental education will also lay the foundation for acceptance among the population.

The main focus remains hunting dog training as part of the cultural heritage of hunting.

It should be encouraged.

The fact that the members also saw it that way was shown by their vote for group accident insurance for hunting dogs, which the association will take out.

The strengthening of the young hunters in Erding, i.e. the hunters between the ages of 16 and 40, is of particular importance.

"Without young people, we are at risk of aging," warned Schreder.

His daughter, 18-year-old Theresa Schreder, wants to counteract this.

"I would like to contribute to binding young hunters in the district to the KJV and in the area of public relations to present hunting from the point of view of young hunters," she said.

She should also support Franz Streibl with the members' magazine.

He had asked for "gradual replacement", but will continue to hold the office with support.

The association wants to raise money for the renewal of the environmental vehicle and the shooting range in Osendorf.

Digitization and digital booking are pending in Osendorf, said Schreder.

Treasurer Valetin Brandhuber made it clear that the money is there.

However, the well-filled cash register also shows "that some things have fallen asleep and we have to step on the gas," said Schreder.

He assured the members that he would do his utmost to bring the KJV forward.

"The lost election didn't take away my joy and motivation from volunteering.

Even after almost 40 years, I still have a few ideas for hunting in Erding that I want to implement.”
