The Celebration Coordination Office of the Home Affairs Bureau sent an email yesterday (26th) to those who attended the July 1st Celebration of the Return of the People's Republic of China, but the email did not use a blind copy (bcc), resulting in the leakage of the email addresses of more than 500 recipients.
The celebration office later apologized, admitted it was negligent, and notified the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

The email from the celebration office originally reminded those who participated in the return movement to take a daily test before staying in a closed-loop hotel, and their family members and drivers who lived with them should also take a daily quick test.
However, the emails did not use blind copies, and more than 500 email addresses were leaked.
It is understood that the leaked email addresses involve members of the Legislative Council, chambers of commerce, government departments, etc.
The Celebration Office later sent an apology email, saying that the email mistakenly displayed the recipient's email address, and the human negligence caused inconvenience to the recipient. Remind frontline staff to prevent similar incidents from happening again.”
It is understood that the incident has caused many members of the Legislative Council to express strong dissatisfaction. Some members privately expressed in the communication group that such an important event as the July 1st celebration can go wrong: "Is there a mistake?"
