The Stadtradeln campaign has started in the district of Erding.
Eight municipalities are participating.
Erding - Burning calories, conserving resources and a common goal - that is the Stadtradeln campaign, which was officially started on Saturday in Erding by Deputy District Administrator Franz Hofstetter and Mayor Max Gotz.
For three weeks, commuters clock up kilometers on pedals.
Gotz reported that 140 participants and 26 teams had already registered in Erding alone.
In the district, Hofstetter informed, eight communities are involved - in addition to Erding Forstern, Inning, Isen, Moosinning, Neuching, Lengdorf and Ottenhofen.
Appropriately for the occasion, Moosinning's Mayor Georg Nagler drove up to Schrannenplatz on his racing bike.
The ADFC, which, among other things, collected signatures for the Bavarian Radentscheid, and the district presented themselves there.
According to Hofstetter, it does a lot to promote cycling.
As an example, he named the construction of new cycle paths, but also their signage, brochures with various tours and cycle tour maps.
According to Hofstetter, the district is particularly attractive for cyclists: with its moss in the west and north, the gravel plain in the south and the hills in the east.
Older people could use e-bikes.
Gotz said: "There are many motives for changing." The city provides the framework, but does not allow itself to be driven by militant cycling lobbyists.
