Landsberg – In front of the impressive backdrop of 719 paying spectators in the sports center, the Landsberg X-Press footballers managed a convincing victory against the leaders of the Munich Rangers.

Due to the 27:14 (7:7; 6:0; 7:7; 7:0) Landsberg remains in 3rd place in the regional league with 9:3 points, but is only one point behind the Rangers and Cowboys II with ten points each.

X-Press head coach Gabriel Chambers is still a happy man two days after the game, as he explains in an interview with KREISBOTEN: “Every part of the team clicked in this game and our game plan worked one hundred percent.

It also helped that the stadium was full and the atmosphere carried us.”

The start went awry at first, because the guests from Munich led 7:0 after a long pass to a touchdown and the following extra point.

But then the leader of the table got bogged down and made life difficult for himself with many penalties.

Charles Westbrook completed a run for a touchdown with a minute left in the first quarter.

Thomas Weil contributed the extra point: 7:7.

Dimitri Butts cut off Rangers' attacking efforts with an interception.

The X-Press put the field goal at 10:7.

"The interceptions were also decisive because we scored afterwards.

The boys were in the right place at the right time," said Coach Chambers.

Devion Young managed the feat again and a little later Thomas Weil sensationally thundered a field goal from 30 yards over the bar to make it 13:7 at half-time.

The fans were rightly over the moon.

Enter: Charles Westbrook

After the break, Charles Westbrook nipped the visitors' ambitions in the bud.

Irresistibly he ran into the end zone.

Thomas Weil scored the extra point: 20:7.

"On Saturday Charles showed why we signed him," Chambers says of his running back Westbrook.

“He recovered from his injury and had a fantastic day.

It was not for nothing that he was voted best player after the game.”

The guests came again to 20:14.

It was the only phase of the game where Landsberg was in danger of losing control of the game.

But the very well adjusted defense withstood the pressure and after Westbrook was able to run many yards again, the X-Press was within striking distance.

After a fine feint, Lukas Saurwein "cheated" his way into the end zone for a touchdown.

Thomas Weil scored again: 27:14 and only a few minutes left to play.

The audience now cheered every successful action of the X-Men frenetically and helped carry the victory to the final whistle.

The next home game is next Saturday at 5 p.m.

The Rams from Nuremberg are guests and Coach Chambers is looking forward to the game: "The preparations are in full swing and we hope that we can offer the great audience a great show again."

The footballers from the Landsberg X-Press are currently on a high.

If they can carry that momentum into the last four games of the season, anything is possible.
