The district's 18th training fair offered 123 information opportunities for young people.

Many had come to Weilheim with their parents and grandparents and also took the opportunity to visit the new vocational school at its open day.

Weilheim

– At the 18th training fair, which is also “the first in the most modern vocational school in Bavaria”, district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß and headmaster Knut Seelos welcomed over 200 guests at the start on Saturday at 9 a.m., who gathered in front of the building on Narbonner Ring had gathered.

The visitors then quickly dispersed throughout the sprawling building.

Optimism among exhibitors

Exhibitors are consistently optimistic about the future.

The foreman of the carpenter's guild, Bertold Romberg, sees no long-term problems for his branch despite the "exorbitant price increase" when purchasing.

Sustainable building and climate protection are in demand, wood in and around construction is sustainable because it is produced without a great deal of energy and is a good CO2 store.

The interest in training in this industry is correspondingly high.

Around 50 apprentices complete their training in the guild every year.

According to the head of the guild, Birgit Binder, the hairdressing trade has problems with young people.

This is partly due to the fact that many young people no longer want to work in the salon from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., a good work-life balance is more important to them.

In order to find trainees, the hairdressing trade reacts with more flexible working hours.

So some salons would offer the four-day week or free Saturdays.

The hairdressing trade is also attractive for anyone who wants to become self-employed.

Despite this, only a few young people informed themselves.

Lots of interest in solar

According to Sabrina Hannweber, young people don't have to worry about their professional future if they decide to build alternative energy systems.

The training officer from "Haustechnik Oberland" sees a "solar future" in the field of energy supply.

This is probably why so many people were interested in this industry, as the visit to the stand showed.

Similar to Hannweber, Siegfried Minnich also sees the development of the labor market.

The medical sector is one of the industries that do not have to worry about their future.

As training manager at the Raistingen-based company "hg medical", which manufactures implants made of titanium, he visits job fairs in order to find young people for the company.

The aim is to take on the young people after they have completed their training.

“There is nothing better than having your own offspring,” Minnich knows from experience.

Spaces still available for fall

Richard Graf from "rgf Funkenerosion" in Fischen, who presented his company for the first time at a training fair, sees it that way.

His goal is to train two more precision mechanics for his company in the coming year.

Those who made quick decisions still had the chance at the trade fair to get an apprenticeship position for this autumn.

The "Schröder Group" still had two vacancies. According to training manager Thomas Beetz, the company from Forst is looking for a dozen young people who want to build machines for sheet metal processing for the coming year.

After the corona lockdowns, the authorized signatory of the “Echter” fashion house, Andreas Weber, found that many people wanted to shop locally again.

That's why he was looking for young people at the fair for the houses in Weilheim and Murnau who wanted to do a dual course of study to become a commercial manager or become a "designer for visual marketing".

Still very interested in mechatronics

According to Petra Callwitz from the Employment Agency, companies are currently particularly in demand for trainees in administration and office areas, plant mechanics for heating and plumbing, and hairdressers.

Young people are still very interested in the automotive sector.

Many wanted to become mechatronics engineers.

“Christiane Wurm was very satisfied with the visit in the first half.

Around 800 visitors had already come by midday.

The district office employee responsible for economic development sees one reason for the good attendance in the fact that the new building of the vocational school was presented to the public at an open house at the same time.

That alone was an attraction.
