The upcoming elections are becoming more and more like the battle of Benjamin Netanyahu's life.
After senior Torah Judaism officials made it clear to him that if he did not get 61 in the election, he would see himself released from the right-wing bloc, yesterday Likud officials also said that "the upcoming election is Netanyahu's last chance."
According to them, "even those who now express the greatest support for Netanyahu say in chambers that they will not go with him to the sixth election campaign and he will be forced to vacate his seat."
Currently, a revolt in the Likud seems a distant and unrealistic thing.
At the same time, in closed-door talks, it seems that many senior Likud members are already warming up on the lines.
They refrain from running in the upcoming primaries, but in talks with other senior and close associates, as well as with senior members of other parties - including the coalition parties - they say out loud that the period of grace that gave Netanyahu five elections is coming to an end.
And if he fails to form the next government, they intend to challenge his leadership so that the Likud can form a coalition.
It should be emphasized that Netanyahu's position in the Likud is strong, and even if he loses the election and does not form the government, candidates facing him are facing real difficulties in trying to defeat him and inherit his place.
The statements of senior Likud members were made, as stated, after remarks made to Netanyahu by senior figures in Torah Judaism, who made it clear to him that they would see themselves liberated from the right-wing bloc to the extent that they were not achieved.
