Place with attraction: At the memorial of the mountain troops on the Hohe Brendten, the war victims are always remembered in early summer.

Today, however, no wreaths will be laid for German soldiers.

Today, in the course of the G7 protests, a handful of demonstrators want to move up to the Hohen Brendten - again.

The group of comrades in the mountain troops does not find the recent uninvited visit funny at all.

The police will of course accompany the pedelec ride of the Vulnerable Preservation of Traditions working group.

Mittenwald

- The memorial of the mountain troops on the Hoher Brendten exerts a magical attraction - even for forces that do not mean well with it.

Such as the working group on attackable tradition, which regards the two stone blocks as bloodstained, not least because of war crimes committed by the Wehrmacht during Hitler's barbarism.

Right at the front: The Wuppertal historian Stephan Stracke.

He is calling like-minded people to Mittenwald this Monday as part of the G7 protest rallies.

A place that has appealed to him for 20 years thanks to his hunt for war criminals (we reported).

And of course he is concerned with a frontal attack on the Edelweiß soldiers.

Stracke's programme: "A pedelec tour in the footsteps of the mountain infantry and Theodor Oberländer's special units (Editor's note:

Stracke and Co meet at 10 a.m. at the Mittenwald train station.

In stages, you then want to pedal through the violin-making town up to the Luttensee barracks and the memorial - route five of the G7 star marches.

The police and district office know that we don't want any demonstrations up there.

Comradeship President Hans Sahm

Colonel a.

D. Hans Sahm, the president of the group of comrades in the mountain troops, of course not funny at all.

"The police and district office know that we don't want any demonstrations up there." For him and the other members, there were "no indications" in advance that Stracke and Co. would come again.

But Hans Sahm and the local comradeship can be reassured: the protest drive, which is not only about war crimes but also about the Ukraine war, is being accompanied in uniform.

"Even at the meeting on Monday in the Mittenwald area, our task as the Bavarian police will be

to ensure the peaceful exercise of the fundamental right to freedom of assembly,” said a spokeswoman for the G7 planning staff.

Especially since the police use areas on the premises of the Luttensee barracks to park emergency vehicles.

After all, the G7 Castle Elmau is only a stone's throw away.
