The Russian Foreign Ministry has permanently banned 43 Canadians from entering the Russian territory in response to the hostile measures taken by the Canadian authorities against Russia.

“In response to the sanctions imposed by the Canadian authorities last May against executive employees of Russian companies and their family members, 43 Canadian citizens, including federal and regional officials from the ruling liberal party and public figures, have been permanently banned from entering Russia,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today.

The statement stressed that the Russian side reserves the right to take countermeasures in response to Ottawa's public hostilities in the event that the ruling regime continues to pursue this path.

The list approved by the Russian Foreign Ministry in particular included the head of the Canadian Liberal Party, Susan Cowan, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources John Hannaford, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister James Armbruster and others.

On May 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced a ban on the entry of a certain category of Canadians into Russian territory, including more than 24 officials, their relatives, senior managers of the military-industrial complex, the shipbuilding industry and the leadership of the armed forces, in response to the anti-Russian sanctions announced by Ottawa earlier. .
