Saint-Denis: discover the footbridge that will connect Franc-Moisin to the Stade de France

2022-06-27T17:08:24.999Z

A public meeting is organized this Wednesday in Saint-Denis to present this future pedestrian bridge, also accessible to cyclists.

This may be a detail for future spectators of the Stade de France, but for local residents, and in particular the inhabitants of Franc-Moisin, it is a structure that will make their lives much easier.

In Saint-Denis, work on the future pedestrian bridge, which will also be accessible to cyclists and people with reduced mobility, should begin next September.

This Wednesday, a public meeting* is organized in the city to discover the project.

A work financed thanks to the 2024 Olympics

"The purpose of this meeting is also to have a time of consultation with the inhabitants concerning all the living spaces around and on the footbridge", we specify to the city.

Basketball court,

street-workout machines

(with outdoor weight machines), benches… The structure should indeed have the particularity of accommodating this type of equipment, particularly sports equipment.

The footbridge will be able to emerge from the ground thanks to the 2024 Olympics: the amount of the work is estimated at around 7 million euros, of which a little more than 5 will be borne by Solideo, the delivery company for the Olympic works.

The rest is matched by the Plaine Commune territory, which is required to finance at least 20% as project owner.

Work should begin at the start of the school year for an opening expected in April 2024.

The footbridge will partially compensate for the closure of the "swing bridge", out of service since May 2021, which allowed cars to cross the Saint-Denis canal between Franc-Moisin and the Stade de France.

As for pedestrians, they could access the other bank by a small parallel footbridge, but only a rail on the side allowed cyclists to pass there, and its slope made it difficult to access for the elderly.

Impossible, however, for people with reduced mobility (in wheelchairs or with pushchairs) to use it.

This Wednesday at 6 p.m. at René-Descartes elementary school;

2, cours du Rû de Monfort, Saint-Denis.
