The Schützengau Fürstenfeldbruck is the umbrella organization for more than 50 rifle clubs in its catchment area - and has been for 100 years.
June marks the 100th anniversary of the founding.
The anniversary will be celebrated at the beginning of July.
Fürstenfeldbruck – Shooting clubs are among the oldest clubs in Germany.
From them vigilante groups emerged, and later even police and fire brigades.
The history of some clubs can be traced back to the 16th century.
Of course, the Schützengau Fürstenfeldbruck is not that old.
Nevertheless, the 100th birthday of the umbrella organization of the shooting clubs in the Gau is a reason to celebrate.
"We organize district championships, round competitions and various cup shootings such as the air pistol memorial cup or the Gau women's challenge cup," says Vice Gauschützenmeister Martin Braun, describing the tasks of the Schützengau.
Youth work is also very important with appropriate competitions.
Pandemic brought club life to a standstill
The pandemic did not leave the shooter untouched either.
Some events were practically shut down by the pandemic.
Before Corona, things were going well in terms of members at the clubs.
"There were many activities," reports the 3rd Gauschützenmeister Jürgen Lieberam.
Although there were also the age shifts that are also common in other sports in the youth: “Perhaps an age group cannot be filled in a year.”
How it is now with the abolition of the corona restrictions in the
Protecting goes further has yet to be seen.
It is clear, however, that there are also concerns in the Gau - although not necessarily in terms of the number of members.
"We tend to have management board crises," says Braun.
Club cancellations are often due to the fact that there are no longer any people who want to volunteer on the board.
The Gau itself is also affected.
"We are desperately looking for a Gausport leader," says Braun.
But the shooters don't want to let their anniversary be spoiled by that.
The Schützengau was founded in June 1922 as Gau 7 in Emmering.
The chronicle tells of a "thorough discussion and mature considerations" in the presence of Mathias Heinloth from the Bavarian Shooting Association.
The speaker for start-ups at the time, Karl Schallhammer, was also there.
The first district shooting in the founding year
The discussions at the time were apparently positive, because in the end the first board of directors of the Schützengau Fürstenfeldbruck was elected.
The Brucker Josef Albertshofer went down in the history books as the founding Gauschützenmeister.
Franz Seehthaler from Emmering was elected 2nd Gauschützenmeister.
The committee was completed by Simon Schäufler (second secretary from Schöngeising), Lorenz Stegmeier (first treasurer from Maisach) and Messrs. Ebeauer (first secretary from Emmering) and Kaiser (second treasurer from Geiselbullach), whose first names appear in the chronicle are not handed down.

The first district shooting took place in Fürstenfeldbruck in the year it was founded.
It was held in a barracks of the former military hospital near today's post office.
It was the prelude to a hustle and bustle in the district.
More district shootings followed in 1924 in Maisach, 1926 in Überacker and 1927 in Hofhegnenberg.
Incidentally, the latter also shows that the district does not have to end at the district borders when it comes to marksmanship.
Clubs from the districts of Aichach-Friedberg and Dachau also belonged and still belong to the Schützengau Fürstenfeldbruck.
Six years break
Sport shooting came to a standstill when the NSDAP came to power in Germany.
Many Schützenbrüder were drafted.
During the Second World War from 1945, the activities of the Schützengau were suspended – as was the case with all other districts.
It was not until January 7, 1951 that the Brucker Gau was revived in Fürstenfeldbruck.
Since then, the Gau has been active for and with its clubs.
The six-year break during and after the world conflagration did not prevent the marksmen from celebrating their founding festival.
A festival is planned on July 3rd, during which a large parade with the following ceremony is to take place in the Marthabräuhalle.
The planning is in full swing, the Schützengau board wants to announce more details soon.
