District - After a long Corona break, the winners of the sports badge competition in the district of Starnberg for the last three years were recently chosen in the Andechser Hof in Herrsching.

The award ceremony was carried out by BLSV district chairman Walter Moser and the consultant for the sports badge Bettina Nickl, who were also able to congratulate several club athletes who have been taking the sports badge for several decades.

District Administrator Stefan Frey was present as guest of honour.

The German sports badge enjoyed increasing popularity again in the last year before Corona: A total of 506 badges were filed in the district of Starnberg, more than in 2018. It is particularly noteworthy that more and more children and young people are enjoying the sports badge - in 2019 there were 338 Here the clubs are characterized by excellent youth work, which hopefully will motivate the younger generation to do sports again after Corona.

There was another small surprise in the competition for the club with the most discarded badges: SC Wörthsee beat TSV Tutzing (82 badges) with 116 badges and took the challenge cup home with them.

In the Corona years 2020 and 2021, the trainers were able to continue their great work and motivate their athletes despite all the adversities.

In 2020, 244 sports badges were counted.

132 children and young people and 113 adults did not let the pandemic take away their motivation.

In 2021, the clubs in the Starnberg district were still allowed to award 181 sports badges.

Corona special trophy awarded

For the years 2020 and 2021, a Corona special trophy was awarded to the club with the most discarded badges and TV Planegg-Krailling was able to assert itself in both years.

The honoring of the so-called "repeaters", who have been filing the sports badge for decades, is a nice tradition and many athletes were awarded honorary gifts this year to great applause.
