In the course of private meetings, a total of 3 million euros is said to have changed hands, one of these meetings is said to have taken place in Charles' and Camilla's (74) residence Clarence House.

Prince Charles apparently accepted three payments, according to the "Times" they were handed over in cash at the request of the sheikh.

In addition to a suitcase full of notes, the 62-year-old is also said to have used a travel bag and shopping bags from a luxury London department store.

The donations probably went to Prince Charles' foundation, the "Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund" (PWCF).

According to The Times, despite the apparently orderly handling, an investigation into the donations from Qatar could soon be carried out.
