The potentials and investment opportunities and the mechanisms needed to activate them and develop economic ties and relations between Damascus and Tehran were the focus of the visit of Abbas Akbari, head of the Office for the Development of Economic Relations between Syria and Iran, and the accompanying delegation to Tartous Governorate today.
Tartous Governor, Lawyer Safwan Abu Saadi, reviewed during his meeting the largest investment opportunities in the province in various sectors and the possibility of developing economic cooperation between the two countries to serve their common interests.
In a statement to reporters, Abu Saada pointed out that the meeting carried important and constructive ideas, stressing the need to focus on the identity of the product to be able to market itself.
Akbari, in turn, explained that the main objective of this visit is to develop and strengthen economic ties and relations between the two countries, take advantage of the capabilities and scientific development in Iran, and transfer its technologies to Syria to benefit from them to develop the Syrian economy.
Akbari also discussed with the president and members of the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry the appropriate proposals and visions to overcome difficulties to advance the economic reality, pointing out the importance of preparing lists of industries and investments in the governorate to provide appropriate support to them, especially export industries.
For their part, a number of members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented proposals to activate economic work, including guaranteeing the rights of traders and exporters between the two countries and following the approach of commodity exchange, especially agricultural products, especially olive oil, and the possibility of establishing a joint financial and banking channel.
In a statement to reporters, Chamber Chairman Mazen Hammad stressed the necessity of upgrading economic relations between the two countries, indicating that the meeting was in-depth, and the obstacles that stand in the way of the development of economic relations were discussed.
The head of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce, Fahd Darwish, indicated that today's meeting comes as a continuation of the plan set by the joint chamber.
