The Director of Communicable and Chronic Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zuhair Al-Sahwi, announced that the ministry has issued a number of circulars to its directorates regarding monitoring disease cases and preventing their transmission and entry into Syria.
The cases, according to Dr. Al-Sahwi, in a statement to SANA reporter, include cholera, monkeypox, hemorrhagic fever and hepatitis in children, noting that the circulars call for the need to continue providing health and treatment services to citizens, especially during the summer epidemic diarrhea season, and to take all precautionary measures to prevent outbreaks.
It was emphasized through circulars, according to Dr. Al-Sahwi, to strengthen surveillance at border crossings, especially those coming from Iraq, and epidemiological surveillance according to the standard definition of the case, and to inform health directorates about suspected cases to take the necessary measures to prevent the transmission of infection to Syria, and to fill out the investigation form for any suspected case.
