The photo of the two politicians went around the world in 2015.
It was the picture for the first G7 summit in Elmau.
The politicians of 2022 now chose this location for their unofficial group picture.

G7 summit in Elmau: Host Germany welcomes G7 participants
On Sunday, June 26th, the first day of the G7 summit in Elmau, the heads of state and government of the leading democratic industrial nations met to discuss the consequences of the Ukraine war, the global economic situation and the climate crisis.
In addition, Chancellor and host Olaf Scholz had Joe Biden (USA), Mario Draghi (Italy), Fumio Kishida (Japan), Emmanuel Macron (France), Boris Johnson (UK), Justin Trudeau (Canada) and the EU representative Ursula von der Leyen (EU President) and Charles Michel (EU Council President) were invited to Elmau Castle.
In addition to demonstrations in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the program for the partners of the heads of government, the first day of the summit was characterized by political unity and determination.
Above all, with regard to the threatening situation surrounding the Ukraine conflict and the threatening gestures of Russian President Vladimir Putin, unity was demonstrated.

As part of this alliance, a group photo of the G7 participants was taken – an unofficial one.
But a special place was chosen for this: the world-famous wooden bench from 2015. The 9 politicians stood in front of it, sometimes posing arm in arm and laughing relaxed at the camera.
And it's already clear: thanks to its symbolism, this photo will also go around the world.

The photo was taken after the joint dinner, which was supposed to be about security policy - especially the Ukraine war.
Shortly before the last rays of sun disappeared over the horizon, the G7 participants gathered in front of the stunning Alpine panorama and created the photo of the G7 summit 2022 in Elmau.
