Eurowings is now canceling dozens of other flights, as

tageschau.de

reports.

Around 40 flights out of around 500 a day are canceled on Wednesday and Thursday.

The two departure points Düsseldorf and Cologne-Bonn are particularly affected.

According to the airline, the ground staff at the airports, but also the increasing number of corona infections among flight staff, were struggling.

In the coming days, more flights would have to be removed from the system.

The failures would exceed the personnel reserves, a spokesman said.

At Eurowings, flights from Düsseldorf (DUS) to Newcastle, Krakow, Zurich and Hamburg are affected on Wednesday, as can be seen on the airport's website.

According to the departure information, flights to Faro, Berlin, Zurich, Hamburg, London and Rome, among others, have been canceled in Cologne-Bonn.

Lufthansa and Eurowings: Is Germany threatening travel chaos at the airports for the summer holidays?

In order to mitigate the threat of flight chaos in the summer holidays, Lufthansa and its subsidiary Eurowings have already pulled the ripcord.

The airlines canceled more than a thousand flights in July from Frankfurt and Munich alone.

Easyjet also took 1,000 flights out of the program without further ado.

Thousands of Britons were stranded abroad over the Pentecost weekend due to canceled flights.

The Dutch airline KLM had simply abandoned thousands of passengers at various airports in Europe.

Flight chaos at the beginning of the summer holidays in NRW?

The most populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is starting the summer holidays.

There should be a lot going on at the airports and on the streets on the first weekend of the holidays.

All airports in Europe are currently struggling with staff shortages.

Travelers should expect long lines at check-in and through security.

If the plane on vacation takes off at all.

Planned strikes could further impact travel in Europe amid the holiday hustle and bustle.

Strike alert at Easyjet and Ryanair in Spain

Strikes at several airlines are planned for the start of the holiday season in NRW.

The cabin crew of the low-cost airline Easyjet in Spain wants to strike for more money for a total of nine days.

According to the Spanish trade union USO, strikes are planned at Easyjet between July 1st and 3rd, between July 15th and 17th and between July 29th and 31st.

According to USO, 450 flight attendants of the British airline at the Easyjet locations El Prat (Barcelona Airport), Malaga and Palma de Mallorca will be called upon to make these 24-hour stops.

Easyjet and Ryanair strike calendar

  • Easyjet in Spain

    : strike call for July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 15th, 16th, 17th, 29th, 30th and 31st.

  • Ryanair in Spain

    : strikes on 24, 25, 26 and 30 June and 1 and 2 July.

Ryanair employees in Spain called for strike at start of vacation

The Spanish unions (USO and SITCPLA) had previously called on their employees at the low-cost airline Ryanair to go on strike at the beginning of the summer holidays.

The Ryanair crew members are therefore called on

June 24th, 25th, 26th and 30th and July 1st and 2nd to stop working.

According to the unions, Ryanair is the only international airline without a collective agreement that sets the working conditions for Spanish staff.

Although the airline had reached an agreement with a smaller union, the USO and SITCPLA felt that this was insufficient and violated Spanish labor law.

Ryanair said the agreement has brought real improvements for staff.
