Could the Ukrainian conflict extend to NATO, meeting on Tuesday in Madrid for a summit where the sound of cannon will resound?
The question is in everyone's mind, as Vladimir Putin has displayed his intransigence for four months to achieve the
"objectives"
of his
"special military operation".
So much, too, the Russian military intervention will have collected only bitter fruits with regard to the goal displayed for several decades by Moscow: the weakening or even the disappearance of the Atlantic Alliance.
However, it is clear that an accumulation of major phenomena, triggered or accelerated by the war in Ukraine, has recently created an unfavorable scenario - to put it mildly - in Moscow.
Application by Sweden and Finland to join the Alliance, reinforcement of Western military capabilities in Romania and possibly in the Black Sea, increase in the defense budgets of NATO countries: all consequences of the conflict that bear the mark increased mistrust...
