The government announced today (28th) that due to the full preparations for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the list of honours and newly appointed justices of the peace originally scheduled to be gazetted on 1 July each year will be postponed this year.
The government did not mention when the delay would be, but said it would be announced in due course.

A government spokesman said that in the past, in response to special circumstances, such as the epidemic, it was decided to announce the list of awards and appointments of justices of the peace on other days. The appointment of a Justice of the Peace will be announced at a later date.
The annual list of honours and newly appointed Justices of the Peace is usually published in the Government Gazette on July 1, the day when the SAR was established.
The Government added that the awarding of medals and certificates is to recognize the important contributions made by the recipients to the SAR or their efforts in public and community service.
Justices of the Peace are appointed under the Justices of the Peace Ordinance (Cap. 510) and their main functions include inspecting places of detention or detention centres.
