There was a lot on offer in Nandlstadt on Sunday: the Johannimarkt was celebrated there with a market festival, church service and the blessing of the bike.

Nandlstadt

– As in Attenkirchen at the Hallertau Beer Festival and at the “Longest Festtafel Bayerns” in Moosburg, the population of Nandlstadt also had reason to celebrate at the weekend – albeit on a smaller scale: at the Johannimarkt on Sunday.

From 10 a.m. the visitors were on their feet to attend the service, the market festival and the blessing of the bikes.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Above all, around 150 believers who celebrated the service with Pastor Christian Kronthaler on the town hall stage.

Those whose stomachs were growling afterwards could enjoy the culinary delicacies of the Nandlstadt Warriors' Association on the beer benches on the closed Marktstrasse: the members served rolled roasts with potato salad, steaks or grilled cheese.

The business flourished, which is why the helpers around chairman Martin Graf worked up a sweat.

This certainly also applied to Pastor Stephan Rauscher.

The priest, who had previously celebrated the beer festival mass in Attenkirchen, then fled to Nandlstadt to bless the cyclists there.

However, almost self-sacrificing, because Rauscher had put on the thick smoke cloak for this procedure, which was a special penance at 30 degrees.

But the dean was tough.

"Give us the strength to be responsible and considerate in road traffic," Rauscher sent the participants of the city cycling towards Attenkirchen on their way.

High percentage reward in Attenkirchen

As a blessing, the 30 or so pedal knights also got a lot of holy water sprayed on their bike helmets.

The other visitors at the tables, the musicians of the Maschant chapel and Mayor Gerhard Betz received "extra spritzers" from the dean, who was not only generous with the holy water: all cyclists would get a glass of schnapps in the vicarage in Attenkirchen, and then for the return journey to be strengthened, he announced.

While some were cycling away, the pensioners' band around staff leader Erwin Zischka came, serving up wonderful marching band sounds.

Otherwise, the hustle and bustle of the market was limited and limited to around ten Fierante and half a dozen flea market stalls.

In addition to the information stand on the subject of car-sharing, a few Nandlstadt business owners also opened their shop doors or moved their business outside to show their presence.
