There is currently a state of emergency at the airports in London due to a lack of staff.

This should now have reached a new peak.

Passengers describe aggravated conditions on site.

LONDON - The situation at London's airports appears to be reaching a new high.

After the situation escalated in London in mid-June due to global air traffic congestion, passengers are now complaining about a new escalation: some travelers have to sleep on the floor because of long queues, while others have been unable to find their luggage amidst the suitcase chaos for days and the first pieces of luggage are said to be slowly starting to smell unpleasant.

London airport chaos: luggage at Heathrow starts to 'stink'

There is currently chaos at London airports due to a lack of staff.

For example, a passenger complains on Twitter about missing luggage that, against prior notice, was not transferred from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow.

Now she waits in vain for her things.

“And these are the scenes in the baggage hall!

It also literally smells like poop," the passenger complains about the conditions at Heathrow, London's largest airport, and posts a photo from there.

Another passenger also describes unpleasant smells at the airport on Twitter.

Also on Twitter, she writes: "The luggage has been here since June 18th, it's literally the 28th. The bags are starting to stink, the staff are lying to our faces, it's literally a mess, fix it."

Additional images show dozens of bags that were "uncollected" or simply not found by their owners.

According to information from

DailyMail

, on the one hand, suitcases and bags are simply left next to the baggage carousels, while on the other hand, travelers are desperately looking for their luggage and cannot find it in the chaos or other problems.

For example, a passenger who has not been able to find her belongings for six days is said to have been told that her luggage had been loaded onto a plane bound for Dublin.

Travelers in London desperate: diversions and long queues at airports

According to

DailyMail

, London airports are not only in a state of emergency in baggage claim.

TUI, for example, came under criticism after a flight from Cyprus that was supposed to land in Bristol was diverted to Gatwick and passengers were then told to "find their own way home".

Travel chaos is currently not only in England.

In Germany, too, there are currently endless queues, suitcase chaos or canceled flights.

A traveler told the newspaper: "You left the diverted passengers at Gatwick with no bus taking them back to Bristol Airport and your staff were crying at the situation - 24 hours late from Larnaca and then this." Lines at Bristol Airport were so long that passengers were forced to sleep on the floor.
