On the island of Sylt, closed areas are to be created for punks and party people so as not to disturb holidaymakers.

That's what a real estate king on Sylt calls for.

Sylt – The first month with a 9-euro ticket is almost over, the summer holidays are beginning and there is still a problem on the popular holiday island of Sylt: the punks in Westerland.

At Pentecost they came to Sylt to board the island with the 9-euro ticket - and stayed.

The "siege" of the celebrity island has been going on for almost 4 weeks now, and restaurateurs and entrepreneurs fear for the 2022 holiday season on Sylt, reports 24hamburg.de.

Punks on Sylt: protect public areas

Anyone who walks from the train station towards the city center in Westerland on Sylt has received an unusual picture in the last few days.

The "Fat Wilhelmine" was almost dry in her well - and behind bars.

A hand-painted cardboard sign denounced the condition.

"Small change for the release of Wilhelmine.

She is innocent” was written there.

The fenced-in fountain was a first measure against the punks on Sylt, as was a walled-up passageway behind the "Dicke Wilhelmine" in Westerland.

But the measures are of little use and were increasingly criticized, which is why workers dismantled the fence around the "Dicke Wilhelmine".

And the punks are still there, sunbathing at the fountain and continuing to scrounge at the generous passers-by on Sylt.

Ole König, a third-generation real estate agent and recently also a hotelier, is worried.

"Business people see their existence threatened," König told the Hamburger Abendblatt.

He calls for public areas to be protected from storage, loitering and disturbance with a municipal statute.

Punks on Sylt are a liability

The real estate entrepreneur Ole König emphasizes that the island of Sylt should be open to everyone.

But he sees the behavior of the punks as a burden.

They would provoke, wild camp and encroach on him.

In his opinion, the community should only have the will to enforce public order.

In principle, the island must be open to everyone.

But other people must not be disturbed.

König sees offering the punks another place, for example in the city park opposite the Westerland town hall, as a possible solution to the problem.

The town hall is located away from the pedestrian zone, about a hundred meters away from the fountain with the "Fat Wilhelmine".

If the Sylt entrepreneur has his way, the punks could soon be chilling and partying in front of Mayor Nikolas Häckel's (independent) official residence.

There, according to entrepreneur König, they can develop freely without disturbing other people.

Ballermann on Sylt: Own party zone on the beach - "We're doing malls on Sylt now"

At the start of the 9-euro ticket, the musicians Klaus Taler and Ikke Hipgold had the right song ready for Sylt, and so the first 9-euro party tourists roared "We're doing Malle on Sylt now" when they got off at Westerland station. There were boisterous parties on the beach in Westerland every summer, but with the reduced train ticket, significantly more party people have already arrived on the island.

Entrepreneur Ole König also has an idea for them.

One could assign the party people in Westerland to a section of the beach where a security service would keep an eye on what's going on.

Will that solve the problem?

So far, the police have had to take care of the revelers on the beach.

Last weekend she ended a big beach party in Westerland, as reported by the Sylter Rundschau.

Around 30 people, who obviously weren't punks, celebrated loudly until the officers arrived.

The Sylt Marketing Gesellschaft (SMG) does not comment on 24hamburg.de about the entrepreneur's specific proposals to designate a party zone on the beach.

Moritz Luft, Managing Director of SMG, emphasizes that the Sylt Marketing Gesellschaft, together with all those involved, is committed to peaceful and orderly coexistence.

It will definitely be a hot party summer on the North Sea, because numerous events will take place on the beach and on the promenade on Sylt in July 2022.

Guests are put off by the punks on Sylt

The real estate entrepreneur König is surprised that there is not the expected high demand for Sylt for the summer months of July and August.

He brokers more than 300 of his own and third-party holiday apartments and houses on the North Sea island and has recently also been running a boutique hotel in Westerland.

König leaves open to the Hamburger Abendblatt whether the reluctance of holidaymakers is due to the new Sylt guests with the colorful hair.

A couple from Eckernförde, who wrote a letter to the editor of the Sylter Rundschau, leaves no doubt as to the reason for canceling their autumn vacation on Sylt: it's the punks on the island.

The couple was on Sylt at the beginning of June and were so bothered by the sight and the bullying on Friedrichstrasse that they canceled their plans for another autumn vacation on the North Sea island.

The reactions to the letter to the editor are divided.

Some readers express understanding on Facebook, others consider the couple's decision to be exaggerated.

A Facebook user draws a comparison to Mallorca and comments, "It's exactly the same as canceling your Mallorca vacation because of a few hundred meters of Ballermann." show next weeks.

At the beginning of the summer holidays at the beginning of July, in addition to holidaymakers, left-wing demonstrators are also expected on Sylt, which could cause further unrest in the holiday paradise.
